“The Star Spangled Banner”
 (my Anna at a Memorial Day parade a few years ago)

O say can you see, by the dawn’s early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight’s last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O’er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets’ red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

Let’s not forget what this holiday is all about.  Visit the cemetery.  Bow your heads for those who have died in service for our country.  Salute them.  Thank them.  Look at the beauty of all of the flags among the graves.  It is a beautiful thing to remember.

God Bless America.

With love from Grand Haven,

Julie
